Keys to Biblical Understanding

Dear Brethren,

How do we grow in grace and knowledge while holding fast to that which we were taught?  Understanding the Bible is of the utmost importance.  Most people have never even read the Bible - let alone understand it. We cannot make the mistake of saying, "I've heard it all; I've read it all; I can coast from here."  In addition to "holding fast," we still need to make every diligent effort to continue to grow spiritually.  " But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ".  (2Peter 3:18)

In the perilous times we are in, it is also our responsibility, not only to retain, but also to preserve the precious Truth that has so graciously been given to us.  The doctrines of Jesus Christ have been restored to us.  Let us not ever take for granted that this Truth will always be readily available.  We must follow Christ's example where He said, "I must work the works of Him [Father] that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."  (John 9:4)  He also inspired Amos to prophesy of a "famine of the hearing of the words of the Lord."  (Amos 8:11)

There is so much for us to learn.  God says, "My people are destroyed for a lack of Knowledge."  (Hosea 4:6)  The Bible is the living Word of God.  That means that the more we study, the more we look to God for the answers, the more we will grow spiritually.  There are keys that can help us to unlock the meaning of the Bible.

Because of religious confusion, this world cannot understand the Bible.  Mankind is confused in so many areas, such as: Who is Israel of the Scriptures?  What is the importance of God's Holy Days? And, Is mankind being judged now?  The Bible contains the answers to these questions and many more - but how can the Bible's wisdom be unlocked?  The Word of God has been preserved down through the centuries - for a great purpose!

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."  (Isaiah 55:11)

Brethren, we are privileged to have the word of God opened to us in a great and wonderful way.  The prophets of old did not have all that we have, though they searched diligently to see what we are able to see. "Blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.  For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them."  (Matthew 13:16-17) (1Peter 1:10)
