A Picture of Life

Dear Brethren,

God is removing His bountiful hand with which He once blessed our nation.  Our nation is in deep regression.  The reason for this deterioration is because we have strayed from His righteous path.  Our president and the leading contender for the presidency have both supported a policy of abortion.  Changes in expediency for the sake of passing a law, or gaining votes, do not negate a lack of moral character.  All is vanity – which means that our leaders go the way the wind blows.  No one has the "right" to bring about the cessation of life in the womb.  Abortion is murder – and God says thou shall not kill (Romans 13:9).

The apostle Paul tells us that the things of God are seen clearly in His creation (Romans 1:19-20).  As maturing Christians we should be able to see the plan of God by pondering the physical creation and its intricate workings.  A babe growing in the womb is analogous to a developing Christian – prior to entrance into the Kingdom of God.  Jesus Christ uses this exact example (John 3:3-6).  It follows that the life in the womb corresponds to the spiritual Life of a converted person.  Following the progression of life to its natural fulfillment, we see that destroying the life of an individual baby parallels extinguishing a spiritual Life before it has entered into the eternal Family of God (1 Corinthians 15:49).

For many people today, it is entirely acceptable to have an abortion.  Women are told by an accepting society that they have the "right" to make a choice.  Millions upon millions of unborn babies have had their lives "lawfully" terminated before they had the chance to see the light of day.  How does God view abortion?  Our ungodly United States Supreme Court busies itself with questions such as, "How late in the pregnancy can the unborn child be aborted?" or "Does the father of the baby have any say at all in the mother's decision?"  In 1973 the Supreme Court, in the Roe vs. Wade case, ruled that abortion was a constitutional right for women.  How have we come to the point where the sanctity of life is treated with such blatant disregard?

Abortion is murder because life begins at the very moment of conception.  At conception, a living human being has begun to exist, and abortion terminates that natural process of human maturation in the mother's womb.  Never be fooled by senseless arguments like, "Is life sustainable outside the womb?"  "Is there viability apart from the mother?"  Those are the self-serving arguments of those without morals.  No one's life is ever sustainable without the many requirements of air, water, nourishment, heat, protection, etc.  God says choose life, and, thou shalt not kill... there are no dispensations from God's high standard.  God, Himself, created the process whereby new lives would come into existence."God blessed them [Adam and Eve], and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply."  (Genesis :28)

King David pondered his own life before birth.  "Thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well.  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being incomplete; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."  (Psalms 139:13-16)

God has given parents a great part in His eternal plan of salvation.  God has given them a marvelous part in His plan of bringing many sons and daughters to glory (Hebrews 2:10).  Before anyone can be a spirit-born child of God, before anyone can be called by God and given the spark of God's spiritual Life at baptism and the laying-on-of-hands, before anyone can become a mature adult, they must be given the life of their father and mother, in one flesh, at conception, and complete the gestation period and become a child at birth.  If that process is ever aborted, anywhere along the way, the very plan of God is interrupted.

Should we be vocal and take an active stand?  Should we cry aloud and spare not – tell My people their sins? (Isaiah 58:1)  Yes!  There is a Godly demand on us – and it is not merely a suggestion.  "Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."  (1 Peter 3:15)  Abortion is not going to go away.  We cannot say, "What's the use – morals are diminishing, and there is nothing I can do about it?"

Brethren, we must understand the seriousness of abortion, and we must take a stand.  Conception, life in the human womb, and birth into this world is a beautiful expression of God's faithfulness and nothing less than an exact picture of the spiritual process of entering into His Life.
