Our Teacher

Dear Brethren,

Was Jesus Christ a teacher?  If so, was He qualified to be a teacher?  Where did He receive His credentials to be a teacher?  The answer is that God the Father, who is sovereign above all, has made His Son, Jesus, to be our creator and our teacher.  On earth, Jesus was a teacher who taught those principles and doctrines he received from the Father.

"Jesus said unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things."  (John 8:28)

"God has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds."  (Hebrews 1:1-2)

Whenever we purchase a new appliance, we receive an “Instruction Manual” that tells us how the piece of equipment works.  The manufacturer knows how to properly operate and maintain the product they have built.  In the same way, our Creator is the only proper instructor to direct and teach us in how to live and prosper.

As creator of the universe, Jesus is eminently qualified to teach us how to live in that universe.  "By him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist."  (Colossians 1:16-17)

Only Christ understands how we are made.  He alone knows our ultimate purpose and destiny.  No one else is able to teach man how to order his steps.  "To make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ."  (Ephesians 3:9 )

We must not only accept Jesus as our teacher - we must request that He be our only Teacher.  "Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me."  (Psalms 119:133)  Jesus is our teacher.
