God Loves Wisdom |
Dear Brethren,
God's plan to expand the
Family of God was thoroughly perfected before creation began. In His
wisdom, God anticipated every eventuality that could arise. From our
perspective, looking back, there have been a number of serious obstacles to
the plan of God that have occurred. Satan's rebellion and the sin of
Adam and Eve were serious attacks. Satan fully believed that he was
going to be successful - not only in thwarting the plan of God, but in
usurping the very throne of God.
Satan was successful in deceiving one-third of the angels, and had plans to
either deceive or overpower a majority of the rest. Adam and Eve were not
so ambitious in their sin as Satan was; they rejected God as their
Master, and missed out on the better resurrection as children of God.
God's plan continued on because nothing is able to prevent its
eventuality. Solomon wrote of the wisdom of God in this way:
"Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars."
(Proverbs 9:1) This is a picture of God's wisdom represented by a house
supported by seven (number of perfection) columns. It means that God's
wisdom is perfect. King David described God's perfect plan this
way: "The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven
times." (Psalms 12:6)
Creation shows - God loves wisdom. The
very fact of God's creation demonstrates that He has a great plan. No
one begins to build anything without a purpose in mind. The purpose of the
creation is to provide an environment wherein God would bring many sons to glory
(Hebrews 2:10). Proverbs 8:22-35 speaks of how God used His perfect wisdom
in the creation. It is as though wisdom were speaking in these verses -
wisdom personified. Notice how perfect wisdom is the ever-present
companion of God.
"The Lord possessed me [wisdom] in
the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I [wisdom] was set up
from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there
were no depths, I [wisdom] was brought forth; when there were no fountains
abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills
was I [wisdom] brought forth: While as yet He had not made the earth,
nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When He
prepared the heavens, I [wisdom] was there: when He set a compass upon the
face of the depth: When He established the clouds above: when He
strengthened the fountains of the deep:
"When He gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass
His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I [wisdom]
was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I [wisdom] was daily His delight,
rejoicing always before Him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth;
and my [wisdom's] delights were with the sons of men. Now therefore hearken
unto me [wisdom], O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my
[wisdom's] ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it
not. Blessed is the man that heareth me [wisdom], watching daily at my
[wisdom's] gates, waiting at the posts of my [wisdom's] doors.
For whoso findeth me [wisdom] findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the
Lord." (Proverbs 8:22-35)
God has given us the Scriptural record and the
creation itself as evidence of how He has used perfect wisdom in the past.
Faith in the promises of Almighty God tells us that His plan will come to
fruition. Wisdom should be our ever-present companion as
well.
