Make Your Choice

Dear Brethren,

The choices are before us, and the answer is simple.  It's almost like turning to the end of a novel to find out how the story ends.  God has told what the choices are and which one to choose.  God says to us, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."  (Deuteronomy 30:19)

We are all very familiar with this verse, and we are used to putting the emphasis on “choose life”.  It has almost become a worn out cliché in God’s Church, “choose life”.  Who would make any other choice?  Let’s read the verse this way “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose…”  Choose -- between the two….

Why choose between good and evil?  Because Satan says we can have it both ways – he is the father of liars (John 8:44).  A lot of people believe they can have it both ways – they live with one foot in the world,  and then pay lip service to God’s way – thinking erroneously that God will be appeased with a token acknowledgment.

Nothing short of a total commitment is sufficient.  How many of us have actually made the conscious decision to put God first in absolutely everything?  Nothing less will suffice!  Jesus said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."  (Matthew 22:37)

Our Faith and our religion is not a …just get ourselves to church on Saturday.., memorize some Scriptures.., speculate on some prophecy..,  or look forward to a Feast vacation.  Our Christianity is a way of living Life – with a capital “L” for eternal Life.  Knowing God's law is not enough.  Understanding the Plan of God is insufficient.  There is more - we must be living God's way of life.  Believing is only a part of the equation.  Jesus says we must live our faith also.  He said, "Whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die."  (John 11:26)
