The Ultimate Antichrist |
Dear Brethren,
On Monday this week, February 11, 2013, 85-year-old Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, effective February 28 at 1900 Greenwich Mean Time. The world's leaders immediately gave obeisance to the former Joseph Ratzinger of German birth. President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and a host of political, business and religious leaders praised Pope Benedict for leadership and service, as well as his decision to resign.
By Passover time there will be an entirely new Pope over the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics. What role will the next Pope have with regard to the Biblically prophesied Man of sin, the Antichrist, Son of perdition, Beast, Mystery of Iniquity, Wicked one, Abomination of Desolation, False prophet, Spirit of Error or False Christ that the Bible speaks of? Are we able to identify the characteristics of each of these entities and distinguish between them? We need to know. God has given us a great deal of information so that we can be forewarned of the coming trouble.
What does a Pope’s resignation mean? Why did so many influential non-Catholics rush to heap accolades on a retiring religious leader in far away Italy? Should members of the Church of God take notice? Yes, we should. We need to be concerned because end-time events are rapidly unfolding as we speak. Many people are being misled, and we wish to watch and not be taken in (Matthew 25:13, Luke 21:36). There is a dreadful tyrant coming on the scene. God warns us not to be deceived by him:
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as god sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God…For this lawlessness is already secretly at work, and it will remain concealed until the restraining power is removed. And then shall that Wicked [one] be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming:
We absolutely do not want to be in danger of falling for this son of perdition’s deception and lies. Will we be able to distinguish between the ultimate antichrist and Jesus Christ by the miracles that will be performed? Those miracles are going to fool the majority of mankind because no man can do those things unless empowered by a strong spirit being.
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12)
To what extent will the next Pope be directly involved in end-time events? “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” (Revelation 13:18)
England and America have been greatly blessed with exceptional wealth and religious freedom for longer than any of us can remember. As we collectively turn our backs on God and His laws our blessings are evaporating right before our eyes – and we are about to be rigorously tested. Immorality, evil, depravity, injustice and dishonesty are becoming the norm. And as a direct result of our iniquities our world is being turned upside down. Every day as we hear the news we find ourselves saying of world events and politicians, “This is just plain ludicrous.”
“For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness. None calls for justice, nor any pleads for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.” (Isaiah 59:3-4)
Brethren, let us make sure that we call for justice and plead for truth. Let us make sure that we demonstrate a Godly love for the brethren. It is only God’s people who will have a unique understanding. We look to no man or Pope. God will show us the way. “These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show unto His servants the things which must shortly be done.” (Revelation 22:6)
The world is on the brink of destruction – they do not see it coming. Almost everyone is going to be confused and believe the counterfeit opposite of the truth. Only the spiritually wise will understand. Not the intelligentsia, not the educated nor the elite.
“Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” (Daniel 12:10)
