2.  Become like God.  God is bountiful, and He wants us to become like Him.  God is generosity personified.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father…”   (James 1:17) God has given us life and the promise of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.  (John 3:16-17)

3. Provide the support and perpetuation of God’s Truth.  We are thankful for past generations of tithe payers who preserved the Gospel, and made it available for us.  That knowledge and calling is of immeasurable worth.  We are responsible, not only for the preservation of God’s message, but also for its being dispensed and disseminated to all the people of the earth – ultimately for their good.  Render... unto God the things that are God’s.” (Matthew 22:21)

4.  Insure that God will make us financial partners with Him.  God says, They that honor me, I will honor.” (1Samuel 2:30) If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a special treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine.”  (Exodus 19:5)  God owns all the minerals and elements, and it is He who sends the sunshine and the rain.  We do not own these things – we are merely stewards.  We do not give tithes, because they are not ours to give”.  The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.”  (Haggai 2:8)  Therefore, we return tithes to God.  In turn, God forms a partnership with us to bless us.

5. Prepare for the observance of the Feasts of the Lord, including the Feast of Tabernacles.  The Feasts of God teach us about His incredible plan for mankind.  You shall truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always… and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household."  (Deuteronomy 14:22-27)

6.  Help those who are in need.  Tithing is for the care of those who are needy.  When you have made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and have given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.”  (Deuteronomy 26:12)

7.  Assure that all our needs will be met by God.  God’s righteousness includes tithing. God supplies our every need.  "Seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."  (Matthew 6:33).  Tithing teaches us of the goodness of God.

8.  Learn how God’s financial system works.  Tithing will be His financial system for administering the World Tomorrow.  A Godly economy will not require excessive tax rates.  The millennial economy will be robust.  "He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape." (Deuteronomy 32:13-14)

9. Do not rob God.  The earth is His and all the fullness thereof. This earth is under a curse that can be removed if mankind will give God His due.  Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, wherein have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.  You are cursed with a curse: for you have robbed me, even this whole nation.”  (Malachi 3:8-9)

10. Build faith in God.  We learn to look to God and trust Him.  Every time we send off our tithe, we experience a sense of casting our cares upon Him – knowing that He will take care of us.  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”   (Psalm 55:22)  Casting all your care upon Him; for he cares for you.”  (1Peter 5:7)

For these reasons, the people of God tithe.   The Scriptures reveal that Abraham and his grandson, Jacob, tithed before there was a written commandment to do so.  God commands us to tithe in His law, the formal statutory law He gave Israel.  We have been commanded to tithe!"  Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year."  (Deuteronomy 14:22)

"And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's. It is holy to the Lord."  (Leviticus 27:30)
