Judges of Israel

Dear Brethren,

These are dark days for our nation.  Our survivability is at stake.  God's people need to know the truth.  How long we have left depends on a number of factors.  For years we felt we could depend on our government leaders and our unconquerable military.  We took our abundance of food and natural resources for granted.  We had a hard working populace with an indomitable spirit.  The majority of our people professed a belief in God, and lived their lives accordingly.  That has changed.  The golden days of our nation are receding in the rear view mirror.

The rule of law in our land has been replaced by those who practice thuggery and situation ethics.  There is an influx of foreigners who do not know the ways of our founders and nation builders.  They love our nation only for what they can get from it.  They do not love it like the generations who sacrificed their sons for our liberty and freedom.  There is a growing element in our midst who would like to see our nation reduced to the level of a third world nation.

The answer is not reduced spending or a balanced budget.  Yes, it would be nice if our children and grandchildren were not being burdened with an insurmountable debt.  It is wrong for those in power to use bribery to deny any of the populace the right to elect their representatives.  That un-American conduct is akin to that of South American dictators – even if some state governors claim that is the way it has always been done.

The only answer that can return civility, honesty, and national greatness to our country is to return to God in our thoughts and actions.  If we do not turn-around to our God and His immutable laws soon, the foreigner among us will rise up like ferocious hornets when they are disturbed.  It is not too late – yet.  God promises that, “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  (2 Chronicles 7:14)

What a wonderful promise.  The True God is not known or honored by those who rule our country.  God is not impressed one bit by those who only invoke His name for effect.  There are always a number of people who have not bowed their knee to Baal – but over-all, America is a disobedient land.  The Word of God is no longer held to be authoritative in the lives of men.  We have become a sinful nation.

Throughout the history of mankind, nations have gone through repeated cycles of sinfulness against the way of God – to prayer and supplication, calling out to God in times of national distress and servitude – to deliverance and salvation by a merciful God – only to fall-back into the apathy and indifference toward God that we are experiencing at this time.  Will our nation be able to turn to God in prayer when so many people believe that our US Constitution forbids prayer?  Is it too late for God to save us?

The answer is, "no," it is not too late.  There is a precedent that we find in the Holy Scriptures.  It is in the Book of Judges.  For 325 years, between the time Joshua entered the Promised Land and the reign of King Saul, ancient Israel repeated the cycle of sin, servitude, supplication, and salvation.

The theme of the Book of Judges is the recurring cycle observed over and over again.  Will this cycle repeat itself on our soil?  America, it is not too late to cry out to God – but time is running out to ask for forgiveness.
