Trumpet of God

Dear Brethren,

Back in 1990 in Chicago, IL I was observing the Feast of Trumpets with well over two-thousand brethren.  It was such a joy to be keeping the Holy Days that show the Plan of God with the combined congregations.  While I was demonstrating the difficulty of producing a shrill blast on the shofar on that holy convocation an unexpected thing occurred.  As I was rotating from one side of the audience to the other, these wonderful high pitched reverberations began to echo throughout the large Hinsdale auditorium.  Technically, I do not know what happened at that point – it could have been some kind of audio feedback squealing throughout the sound system – or perhaps there was simply an overload of the amplifiers and speakers – but with a screaming crescendo the entire system went ballistic and shut completely down.  There was stark silence in that huge gymnasium as the sound system men went into a panic.  After what seemed like an eternity with me standing at the podium the sound system came back on line

The irony of that occasion is how it mimicked the event in heaven that will occur when it is time for the seven trumpets.  “When He had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."  (Revelation 8:1-2)

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”  (1 Thessalonians 4:16)  Jesus Christ will return when the last trumpet sounds.

"The seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15)

After six thousand years of human misery, wars and sin, this world cries out for the day of Christ's return in power and great glory.  "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ."  (Titus 2:13)

Students of the Bible understand that God has given us a prophetic outline of events leading up to the return of the King of kings, Jesus Christ.  God's Feast Days reveal His plan of action.  By comparing the words of Jesus in Matthew 24 with those in Revelation, the full meaning of the Feast of Trumpets is revealed.  When opened, the seven seals of Revelation 5 reveal the sign of Christ's coming spoken of in Matthew 24.

"I saw in the right hand of Him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals."  (Revelation 5:1)

"As [Jesus] sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"  (Matthew 24:3)

The seven trumpets signal the day of God's wrath, the day of the Lord. "The great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"  (Revelation 6:17)

"The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.  That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.  And I will bring distress upon men.  Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord's wrath."  (Zephaniah 1:14-18)

When the seventh seal, the seventh trumpet, and the seventh vial are complete, the Lord's wrath will be complete.  "The seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever."  (Revelation 11:15)

There will be no live broadcast of Sabbath services today.  We plan to broadcast on the Feast of Atonement - next Sabbath.
