Incredible Human Potential
By Warren Zehrung – July 30, 2011

One of the questions that we have heard over and over in God’s church is one that causes us to stop and think about our faith, our beliefs, and what it is all about. Why were we born?  We had a booklet that was entitled “Why Were You Born?”  Why did God create us?   This is one of our beliefs that separate us from many in the world.  There are quite a few who think that we were not created, and that we are just happenstance.

Why do we exist?

For those of us in the church, do we ever stop and really ponder the deeper meaning of life?  What is the real purpose of life?

John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

This is the earliest beginning that is mentioned in the scriptures and much earlier than the beginning mentioned in Genesis 1.  This beginning is talking about the beginning of everything, when there was nothing except the One that we know as God the Father and Jesus Christ.  The two of them communing together, representing and being who and what God is.  John refers to Jesus Christ as the Word.  We know then that in the very beginning was the Word, and that was Jesus Christ.   Jesus was with God the Father.  God the Father was not yet the Father because He became the Father when Jesus became the Son.  They talked about it way back then, and they planned it.  Then John makes a very, very important clarification.  ‘And the Word was God.’  There are many teachings in this world and many of them are false.  But there were two entities, there was God the Father and there was Jesus Christ

The question that we will look at, as it has to do with the sermon today, is “Where do we fit into the scheme of things?”  John is telling us these things and we thank God that he did record them so that we know without a doubt, from the word of God, that this is the way that it is.

John 1:2  The same [Jesus Christ] was in the beginning with God.

He repeats that same verse.  And again, there is a terrible heresy that says that Jesus was not with God, but that Jesus was the only God, Jesus and the Father being the same one.  I do not want to belabor that but, brethren, it is important for us to understand the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Father if we are going to have any semblance of understanding about the relationship of God the Father with us, and the relationship of Jesus Christ with us. They are different relationships, and they have different workings.

John 1:3  All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

He specifies that all things were made by Him, and there was not anything that was not made by Him.   Here is something that we need to know about God. Only God has immortality, only God has what we would call eternal life, and only God has always existed.  This was before there was any such thing as time, because time has something to do with matter and material, and so forth.  God has eternal life, He has been alive that long.  Our lives are rather short by comparison.  We have maybe 70 years, or perhaps, 100 years. I do not know if there is a nyone on the earth alive at 120 years today.  Every now and again you hear about a claim of somebody being 127, or something like that.  For the most part I think that the average lifespan is around 78 years for women and 72 years for men.  That is nothing compared to eternal life.  The life that men now possess is short and is temporal.

John 1:4  In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Life is inherent in God, and it is a part of Him.  God is spirit (John 4:24).  The second part of verse 4 is a little hard to understand.  This is jumping ahead quite a bit to where mankind exists, and I think that this is a reference to where Jesus Christ is on the earth and that He brought hope, truth and light to the whole situation.

Why did God make man?  If Jesus and the Father were together and everything was hunky-dory and they were perfect, complete, all-wise and all-knowing, then why did they make man?

King David had the same question that we are thinking about right now.  Why would God be interested in creating man?  For what purpose would God create man?  Everything has a purpose.  You and I would say that we believe that there is a great Creator God.  If we do then we would grant that God has some idea of what He is doing, if He is that wise and that brilliant.   An atheist would say that this is a bunch of nonsense.  But the fact that there is a universe, tells me that something came from somewhere.

If you are driving down a gravel road and a rock knocks out your windshield, that ruins your day.  That rock came from somewhere.  Would God make that rock (the universe) without having some purpose for it?  That is just not the way that we stop and think about things.

God has vast plans for His vast Creation!  We will see what David said, and see what the scriptures say as we go along.

What are God’s plans for this tremendous creation that He has made? What did God create this universe for?  What was its use?

When a carpenter or an architect build something they know what they are building, and what they are going to use it for.  So, why do people suppose that our Creator God has no purpose for His creation?

What is the purpose of the far away stars?  Some of them are so incredibly far away it is incomprehensible.

John 1:9  That was the true Light, [Jesus Christ] which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

We know that truth comes from Jesus Christ.

John 1:10  He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

That is obvious that the pre-flood world did not know Him.  There were one or two that did – Abel, Enoch and you can go down through the list.  But, for the most part, the world knew Him not.

John 1:11  He came unto his own, and His own received Him not.

Did John mean that He came to the Jews because Christ was born a Jew?  Or was He referring to the Israelites or mankind?  In any case “His own received Him not.”   God the Father called the few, and Jesus did the same when He called His disciples.  But, for the most part, this is one of those general statements, “His own received Him not.”

John 1:12a  But as many as received Him, [Jesus]……

I want to tell you about this word ‘received,’ and this will be our Greek lesson for today.  Received is “lambano,” and it means to take hold of, to get hold of, or to grasp.  It is not like receiving somebody at the door, or receiving a piece of mail, but it is receiving as in grabbing and holding on.

When it says “as many,” who is He talking about?  Who did receive Him?  Who is John writing about there?  That is us, and it was originally the apostles in the New Testament church.  There is a set of people there, and it is speaking about the church.  For a couple of years I have hesitated to use the word ‘church’, but I think that we are starting to get a good grasp that when I say ‘church’ I am not talking about buildings with steeples, or any kind of structure, corporation or organization.  We are talking about the called out ones of God, the ones who did receive Christ. The people are the ‘Ecclesia,’ the ‘called out ones,’ and they were all over the world.  The people were worldwide and that is the church.  I know that we all labored under a man who said, ‘I am going to check with the church’ or ‘I am going to call Pasadena’.  They were checking with some men who were running various operations, whether it was publishing, or travel program (Fleet), or the publications, or other things.  If you check with the church you really need to be checking with all of the people, and that is not what was being done.  So the word ‘Ecclesia’ just means the ‘called out ones.’

We are answering the question in this sermon, “What is the potential of God’s people?”  It is different to what the world thinks.  If you take a person on the street he is not saying, “I am preparing myself so that I will be prepared when I get to heaven.”  He is thinking about going to heaven (as nobody is thinking about going to hell), or at least they are not wanting to, even though some readily admit that is where they are headed.  But we should be preparing to be in the Kingdom of God.

Then to stick with the title today, we would ask the question, “What is our incredible human potential?”  What are we destined to become?  What is mankind’s capability?  When a boy is little he might want to be a policeman, fireman, or an Indian chief.  But what is our future ability going to be?  What was man created to be?  What has God promised we would ultimately become?  What was the purpose that we were made for?

What was it like the first time that you heard about what our incredible human potential was?  I don’t know about you, but most of us grew up thinking that you had an immortal soul and when you die you go to heaven.  We thought that we would get what everybody else gets when you get to heaven, which is anything from floating around heaven, or looking on the face of God (beatific vision).   What did it do to you the first time that you heard that you were going to be in the Family of God?   That you were going to be like God and that you would be a child of God? (1 John 3:2)  That you were going to be above the angels and that you would be above all of these things.  It is incredible and positively astounding, and it is no secret to the people of God what we are going to be.  But it is to the world.  This is the mystery that the Bible talks about, that we can be the children of God (1 John 3:2) .

John 1:12b  …to them gave He power to become the sons of God,

That is in everybody’s Bible, but people think that is semantic, or a sentiment and they play it down, and they do not really believe that we are going to be in the Family of God.

Our Incredible Potential is to be Eternal Sons of God – in the very Family of God.

God is reproducing Himself in mankind.

We are getting off to a slow start, because there were only a few.  There were 120, 3,000, then 5,000 men the next Sabbath (Acts 4:4), but that is not a big number.  5,000 in today’s world population is still a small number.

John 1:12  But as many as received Him [Jesus Christ], to them gave He power to become the sons of God,

That leaves out all of the others that Christ came to.  He came to His own, and they received Him not.  So this is just a few by comparison.   The world does not know this.  It has been preached, and we published many “Incredible Human Potential” books, many “Mystery of the Ages” books, and many “United States and Britain in Prophecy” books as possible, but the number is still somewhere like ten million or something.  I remember at one time, we were printing eight million Plain Truth magazines each month.  That is quite a number.  It was a witness to the world, but they still do not know it.  Science cannot discover what our incredible human potential is, or understand that God is reproducing Himself, because science mostly wants to discount that there is a God at all, let alone that He is reproducing Himself.

There are very, very few people right now, who believe this incredible truth.

The world’s religions do not know it, or teach it, and that is because they do not understand it.

Very, very few people are doing what is necessary for this to come about.  Many are not working at fulfilling the requirements to be the children of God.  There are requirements, you do not just sit around and wait until you die.  Frankly, brethren, we have had people in the Church of God who think that they have been called, and they will just sit around and wait until they die, and they will be in the Kingdom of God forever.  Every minute that we are given is given to us for preparatory time, to get ready to be in the Kingdom of God.

John 1:12  …even to them that believe on His name:

One of the first requirements is that we “believe on His name.”  Catholics and college professors do not believe it.  We can tell by their disobedience.  When you believe something, you do it. You avoid Mack trucks, because you believe that if a Mack truck runs over you it will smash you.  Well, if these people believed Christ they would do as He says.  They have too much intellectual vanity.  But someday soon, they will all be humbled and then they will know that everything is out of their control.  Being in control, and having things go your way, really makes you feel like you do not need anybody else, or anything else.  Then being humbled has to do with completely losing the ability to have any control over the factors that are around you.

John 1:13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

We do not bring it about ourselves, and we do not come to understand and know that we will be the children of God by our own will, but by the will of God.”

John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John is starting to explain now that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Father, begotten of the Father, and so forth.  Why did Jesus Christ come to this earth?  There (in heaven) He was all mighty and all powerful God, with God, and God, why did He dwell amongst us?

John 1:29  The next day John [the Baptist] seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

There is a great deal here that pictures Passover.  Jesus Christ came in the flesh, to die in the flesh.

Jesus Christ has made us temporary, and we are only here for a short time, and if we want to be a part of God’s plan we will be given that opportunity, either now or later.  If we do not accept the blood of Christ for our sins, we will (not have salvation).

Psalm 8 shows that God was working with King David in giving him the same thoughts that we are thinking about today.  I think that we understand a great deal in God’s church, not that we understand everything that is to be understood.

Psalm 8:1  O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above [greater than] the heavens.

Jesus is number one in the earth.  This is saying that Jesus Christ is not confined to the earth.   His realm is above the heavens.  That is not our realm, at least not yet. I use those words ‘not yet’ advisedly, and we will see why in a few minutes.

Psalm 8:2a  Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies…

Brethren, this is saying a great deal.  David is saying that we start off in this world as little bitty helpless babes and sucklings, and we are totally dependant.  But out of babes like that he is saying that God has ordained strength.

Psalm 8:2b …that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

All the way to the enemy line, Satan himself, and that will be at the final atonement.

I Corinthians 1:27  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Paul is saying that this is the way that God does things.  He starts off with little babies or the very weak to put Satan in his place.  God starts off small, but He is going to do great things.

Psalm 8:3  When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

What are the stars for?  God ordained and established them for a purpose.

Psalm 8:4  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visited him?

Somehow it was revealed prophetically, to David, that Jesus Christ was going to come in the flesh.   David would have known that Jesus walked with Abraham as Melchizedek, and the different times that Christ visited in the past.  It is also a reference to the coming of Jesus Christ.  He is asking, “What is man’s incredible human potential?”  He is speaking of men with respect to the vast heavens that are so vast and so huge.  What is the purpose of all of this creation, and what is the purpose of man?

Psalm 8:5  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

So David knows that man has some kind of incredible potential.

“ ...A little lower than the angels” - but God’s Plan, as we shall see, is for man to be superior to the angels, as Sons of God.  We as human beings, those who are children of God, Spirit-born sons of God, will be superior to the angels.

Psalm 8:6  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

He has just established that the faraway stars and galaxies billions of light years away, where ordained by God, and here it says man is going to be in charge of all things, and controlling it

We will be able to dam rivers and turn them into power, and control the flooding.  This is an incredible potential if we stayed in the flesh, but we are talking about being spirit-born children of God.

Psalm 8:7  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

David is out there keeping the sheep of his father, and he knows that he is smarter than the sheep.

Psalm 8:8-9 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.  O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

That is saying that God’s name is exceedingly high.

We have all heard stories about the young man who started working as a mere clerk, or in the mail room, he works hard and he rises through the ranks of the corporation to become the President or Chief Executive Officer.  We love success stories like that - it is like a rags-to-riches story.

There is a principle in learning an operation in and out, from the bottom to the top, and they are very valuable lessons.  God’s plan is a lot like that.  We start at the very bottom, as suckling babes, and yet we are ordained to have all things under our feet

It seems that almost every time a great man builds a great company, and then passes it on to a son, that the son does not perform to the heights of expectations that his Dad had for him.

Quite often, the son of inheritance squanders the family wealth, and sometimes he ruins the family name in the process

God has us starting at the bottom, as the weak and of no reputation, and this is for the experience of overcoming, and the things that we learn along the way.

Hebrews 2:8  Thou [Jesus Christ] hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him.  But now we see not yet all things put under him

It has not happened that all things are within the control and power of man.  That is our incredible human potential, in the future, when all things will be put under the dominance of men.

Hebrew 2:5  For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak

It is not going to be left to angels, it is going to be for the sons of God.  Our potential is to be born into the God family, having power and life-giving jurisdiction over the entire universe.  It is not going to be limited just to this earth.

Brethren, we are all God’s creation.

Jesus will return soon to establish and set up the Kingdom Of God.  The church of God knows this, but this information has been lost, suppressed, and hidden on purpose.

Sometimes, we in the Church of God suffer from a lack of understanding, and comprehension, about the Kingdom of God.  Sometimes we look on it with too much of a physical focus.  We have the Feast coming up and we talk about the lion, lamb and little child, and how there will be peace, and the nature of the animals is going to be changed.  There will be beautiful millennial farms, and everybody will have his own fig tree, and it is going to be really nice.

But the Kingdom of God is a whole lot about us, as Spirit-born children of God, helping others into the Family of God.  This is what we are going to be doing in the Millennium.  We should have a picture of us being spirit, like Jesus.  We will be the family of God, and we will be part of that loving close relationship with God.  We will be helping others to come into the family of God, as the Father and Jesus Christ are reproducing themselves.

Matthew 24:5  For many [teachers and ministers] shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

I thought when I was young, that there would false ministers and they would be really easy to spot. They will not be standing around saying “I am Christ” and another saying “No you are not, I am Christ.”  That is not what this means.  It means that there would be a lot of them standing around saying that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, He is the Savior, and He is coming back.  But at the same time they will have a pagan foundation, and they would be doing their Easter eggs, their Christmas presents, and celebrating Halloween, and all of the rest.  There is going to be a lot of this going on.

Jesus knew that the church for the most part was going to be a people that was deceived.  Jesus knew that the true good news (Gospel Message) would be suppressed, hidden, and withheld from most of the world for most of the time.  It is like that right now.  Ninety-nine percent of the churches are churches of this world.  But Jesus also knew that the truth would be preached and restored right at the end, just before Jesus Christ returns.  We know that the whole world is deceived.

When will the good news finally go to the world as a witness?

Matthew 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

What this is saying is that Jesus knew full well that the gospel message would be suppressed, hidden and changed, all the way up to the very end when it would then be preached again as a witness to all nations.

We will see that within twenty years after Jesus Christ was working with His apostles, the gospel was suppressed.

Galatians 1:6  I marvel [I’m surprised at you!] that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

It was a different gospel.

Galatians 1:7  Which is not another; (because it was a false gospel) but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

He was talking about false ministers.  This was twenty years into the New Testament church, and the church was pretty new, and still had a lot of zeal.

We will rule in the Millennium with Jesus Christ.

The world is deceived to this very day.  It started almost immediately in the church of God.

II Corinthians 11:3  But I fear, [the state of the church is in danger] lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

It is straightforward, and we have it in all of the gospel accounts.  It is so clear.  We make the mistake when we first come into God’s church that we want to tell our family, and all of our friends what we believe.  We think that it is so straightforward, and everybody should see it. Once you are in the church, and you have repented of your sins, and you have turned to God, and said, ‘I will keep the Sabbath, the Holy days, and I won’t kill, and I will go on to perfection…’, then to be corrupted from the simplicity of Christ.  “I am fearful for you”, Paul says because it is possible to “hear” another [false] gospel.

II Corinthians 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

I read just recently about a leading minister who is starting to move toward the Holy days a little bit.  But he also says that Jesus made the Sabbath, kept the Sabbath, and that the Sabbath is right, until Christ was raised on Sunday and it has been Sunday ever since!  That is [preaching] another Jesus.  Jesus did not nail the Sabbath to the cross.  All of the apostles taught the Sabbath all of their entire lives.  Paul is going to tell us what kind of people these are that come in with this new stuff.  The ones that are in charge will say that God put them in charge, and gave them the responsibility to change it.  ‘He made me the shepherd, or the watcher of the flock, or the keeper of the books, and I get to change it because I am in charge’.  God says that His word does not change.

II Corinthinans1:13  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

Yes, they will say that they are an evangelist an apostle, or the Pope, or whatever it is, depending on where he is.  But Paul says we are not to be surprised if at any given time, in any given age, there are going to be some very visible false teachers.  That is because Satan is the one that sets them up.

II Corinthians 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

He does not come wearing the red hat, with horns, or with a forked tail.

Satan was Lucifer, and he was beautiful and he was a good angel at first.  What happened to him? He had pride. God knew from the beginning that He would have eternal sons.  He said from the very beginning that They [the Father and Jesus Christ] were going to replicate themselves, duplicate Themselves.  “We are going to reproduce ourselves,” God said.  God wanted to share Their love.  He wants the universe to be filled with the teachings of the true God and the love of the true God.  That kind of happiness, joy and peace will fill the universe.

Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase [grow and grow] of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever

It is possible that when Satan realized that man, as sons of God, would be in a position actually superior to him it may have been jealousy that caused him to try to destroy the world.  God did not create the universe exactly as we see it right now.  Scientists are trying to find water on Mars and Jupiter. Then they can say if there is water, then there is life.  If there is life, there is no God.  One of the main reasons for NASA’s motivation of going into space is to find other life. They [scientists] think that if you can prove evolution, and that man came from nothing, you do not need a God.  We are our own god if that is the case.  I think that it was pride, jealousy and also a lack of faith on Satan’s part in God’s total goodness and justice.  All of a sudden Lucifer was saying, ‘I want to be number two man and these mushy, little squishy human beings are going to be superior to me.  I am not going to have any part of it’.  At some point, he got so angry he decided to destroy the universe, but he was unsuccessful at it, and he was not able to knock God off His throne.

Suffice it to say, Satan HATES more than anything else, the people of God.  Think of it like this. At the office there is an opening coming up at the top, and somebody who has worked years and years, think that the position is theirs.  The big boss brings in somebody from the outside, and gives him that job.  Can you imagine the animosity in your office when this young upstart gets this job after the other guy put in all those years of hard work?  That is the kind of the attitude that Satan has. More than anything else, Satan hates the children of God, he hates the sons of God and he wants to destroy the church.  The nucleus of what God is doing right now is the church of God.  That is what the stars are there for, that is what the earth is here for, and that is what the plan of God is all about

So it is no wonder that Satan comes up with some counterfeit ministers, who teach things that appeal to his Satanic or their carnal nature.  He is going to say, This is good, take a bite’, like he did to Eve.  Or he will say to us, ‘Here, you can be in the Kingdom of God the easy way’.  There are going to be all kinds of false ways to attain the Kingdom of God, and that is what Satan is going to put out there.

II Corinthians 11:15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

False ministers are not going to be children of God, and they are not going to attain to their incredible human potential.  They are going to fall short, because they are selling out to be a false minister right now.  Whether it is the glory, the pride, the power, or the control, it is not putting God’s way first.  God is not happy with false religion.

Romans 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold [back] the truth in unrighteousness;.

The Revised Standard Version says, “Who by their wickedness they suppress the truth.”

This is wonderful and astounding news that we are going to be God, in the family of God.  It will be a close family and you will not have to knock when you come in

The truth has been suppressed that we are the “House of God”.

Brethren, if you believe this present evil world has anything to offer, and you can take God’s way and put it on the back burner, you have not learned what our incredible potential in the Kingdom of God is destined to be.  God has such tremendous plans for His children, but this world offers nothing.

That is the purpose of all of God’s creation, and man in it?

Genesis 1:26a  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:

Can you picture God in your minds?  I have heard some people say it is idolatry to try to do this.   What is your concept of God Almighty, all-knowing, and all-loving?  I tend to think of His throne as being magnificent, beautiful, powerful, and bright with the twenty-four elders, and all of the different kinds of angels all around it. God has wisdom, power, life-inherent, goodness, and so forth.

When it says ‘make man in our image’ I think that we need to admit that we are not yet in the image of God.  We are not made in the likeness of God yet.

What does Jesus look like in His glory?

Revelation 1:14-16  His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters. [like the thunder of a waterfall] And He had in His right hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword and His countenance [brilliance] was as the sun shineth in his strength.

This is giving us somewhat of a picture [of God], so we know that this is not wrong because it is in the Word of God.  “Was as the sun shineth in his strength” - we are talking 12 noon on a summer’s day and looking straight up at that sun.  It would burn your eyes out in a second

I am not made in that image yet.  There is something yet to go.  Our glory has not come yet.  We are still in the flesh, and when we die we are still corrupt, and we are not yet in the likeness of God.

I Corinthians 15:50  Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;

Something else is needed.

Genesis 1:26-27  …and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

Brethren again, this world does not understand.  We know better, and we know what our incredible human potential is.  God has created mankind to ultimately be in His family, or you might say to be His family.  Eternal life is just too precious to trust to the ministers of this world.  The message that Jesus Christ brought was part of the Good News, part of the gospel, and we human beings have been called, and in whose mind is the Spirit of God.  We are destined to be the family of God.

Jesus brought a message that we, mere mortal human beings, are destined to be in the Family of God.

John, the beloved apostle, wrote it so clearly that even now because we have been called and we are being faithful we are already the sons of God.

Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong told us how all of these scriptures fit together.  The analogy is like unto a woman that is carrying a child.  We understand when we talk about an embryo it is a living, heart-beating, blood-flowing human being, and yet it is not free to walk around on the face of this earth.

I John 3:2a  Beloved, now are we the sons of God...

That is not semantics, or mere sentiments, we are really the sons of God. We have the Father’s name and it is token.

I John 3:2b …and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

God’s Word says, “We shall be like Him.”

In closing brethren, Jesus Christ came preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God.  And that good news includes the truth about our incredible human potential as sons of God in the family of God.
